San Francisco Bakery Declines Service to Uniformed, Armed Law Enforcement – American Faith

The San Francisco Police Officers Association has voiced its concerns over a local bakery, Reem’s, which has confirmed its policy of not serving any individual who is armed and in uniform.

The bakery’s stance came to light when an officer was turned away last weekend because he was in uniform, according to a report from The Daily Wire.

A statement from Reem’s explained, “Thank you for your email. At Reem’s we do have a policy to not serve anyone that is armed in a uniform. All officers are welcome to come to our establishment when they are off duty and not armed.”

The union has criticized the bakery’s decision, asserting that if businesses are unwilling to serve on-duty, armed officers, then these officers would prefer not to patronize them even when off duty.

They said, “We are not asking Reem’s or any business with a bigoted policy to serve our officers. We’re asking them to own their discriminatory policy & and put up a sign so we know not to spend money in your establishment — on or off duty. We took the liberty of designing one for them.”

The sign they suggested reads: “NO ENTRY. NO COPS ALLOWED. HAVE A NICE DAY.”

Adam Housley, a former news correspondent, commented on the situation, stating, “And this is why the city has become what it is,” Daily Wire notes.

Meanwhile, the National Fraternal Order of Police posed a question to the bakery: “Soooo has Reem’s contacted SFPD and been placed on a do not respond list or nah? Just checking …”

It remains unclear how the San Francisco Police Department will approach the situation or if there are any future implications for the bakery’s policy.
