“Election season.” The phrase brings a glimmer of hope — though to many, it can bring dread, as well. But friends, we don’t have to fear that our hopes will be cast down. Our hope is in God, and He is never cast down!

Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.

It is time for us to be encouraged and to realize the power and authority we have as the people of God!

In the words of the Psalmist:

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God (Psalm 42:11 NKJV).

Friend, you are a king and a priest unto God. Your prayers are so important that God keeps them in bowls in heaven! So, does He listen and hear you when you pray? Yes. All we have to do is to keep praying and not lose heart:

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart (Galatians 6:9 NKJV).

So, will you stand in the gap once again for this election cycle?

Right now, we are in the initial stages of the presidential election process. The “big news” events happening now are the presidential debates. And these are key events; they are events that expose and reveal. They are also places where the Lord exalts one and casts down another!

Would you pray with me today over the presidential debates?

Let’s pray together as follows:

Dear Heavenly Father, the dreaded election season is upon us again — and we hope and pray for good news this time. The presidential debates are a big part of the election process, so we lift them up to You right now.

Abba Father, we boldly come before Your throne of grace, where we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. And as these debates resume, we ask that You would show Your sovereignty over them for all to see:

• Let all the people You want to participate in the debates show up.
• Let any people whom You don’t want to participate be excluded or prevented from attending.
• Elevate the righteous, but cast down the wicked.
• Let every work of darkness be exposed, humiliated, and brought to justice during these debates and because of them.
• If any person has hidden and evil motives, expose those through the light of Your countenance.
• Let corruption of every sort be exposed and kept out of the debate process.

Father, Your word says there is nothing secret that will not be revealed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known.

We claim Your promises today, and we ask that You would use these debates to dethrone and neutralize every candidate for the presidency who is not from You.

We ask also that You would assist the righteous as they face their opposition during these debates. We ask that You would show Yourself to them as the Answer of their tongue. And when they stand before kings, please give them the words to say in that moment — even if they’ve had no prior idea how they should answer a particular question.

We pray also in Jesus’ name for fair and impartial moderators to handle these events.

If any unfair person is on the schedule to moderate, remove that person. Give us righteous moderators, and let even the moderators be swayed by the wise words of the righteous.

Father, we also pray for safety; don’t let any harm or danger come to any person in the event space. Give the Secret Service and other security personnel great wisdom and discernment, and protect all involved from any bad actors.

Lord, we ask that incompetence would be exposed and excellence promoted at these debates.

We pray that the topics of conversation would be limited to what YOU want talked about, and that no distractions would be allowed. We pray also that You would station angels all around the event spaces, linking arms around them and not allowing any evil to pass through, in Jesus’ name.

Father, use this season’s presidential debates to release righteousness on the earth.

We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You. Do what it takes to bring us righteous government, and we’ll give You all the praise.

Thank You. In Jesus’ holy and precious name, amen and amen.

Friend, always remember the promises of Psalm 37 — particularly this one:

The wicked have drawn the sword and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to slay those who are of upright conduct. Their sword shall enter their own heart, and their bows shall be broken (Psalm 37:14–15 NKJV).

I know things look dark in America now in many ways, but God is still on the move! He is never defeated; He is invincible and unbeatable! And even when His move goes “underground” and we don’t see a lot of evidence that He is healing our land, He still is. His Word promises that He is and He will, and He is not a man that He should lie!

Let’s join together and cover every part of this election process with prayer. And lift up your head while you’re doing so, for your redemption draws near! Be encouraged today!
