Iran Launches Attacks Against Israel – The Stream

Iran launched drones from inside its borders aimed at Israel on Saturday.

According to Israel Defense Forces, “the IDF Aerial Defense Array is on high alert, along with IAF fighter jets and Israeli Navy vessels that are on a defense mission in Israeli air and naval space.”

Reuters reports that sirens are sounding throughout much of Israel and that residents are taking shelter. The news agency reported that the drones were seen flying over Iraq, where about 2,500 U.S. troops are stationed. Israel says at least 100 bomb-carrying drones have been launched from Iran.

The U.S. confirmed it has shot down some of the drones on approach to Israel, while Jordan says it will shoot down any drone or aircraft violating its air space.

As The Stream reported Friday, Iran has been openly threatening Israel and the United States for weeks after a group of terrorists were recently taken out in Syria. The Islamic regime is not only implicated in the October 7 Hamas terrorist massacre in Israel, but ongoing attacks against American forces in Iraq, Syria and Jordan as well as international military and commercial ships in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Strait of Hormuz.

The attacks are a major escalation by Iran that will have a huge ripple effect throughout the Middle East and the world. President Joe Biden returned to the White House shortly after the news broke to monitor the situation with his national security team.  After initially saying the President would address the nation, The White House called a lid at shortly after his return, signaling Biden would not be addressing the American people this evening.

At a rally in Pennsylvania, former President and GOP nominee Donald Trump said, “America prays for Israel. We send our absolute support to everyone in harms way. This is an attack that would not have happened.”
