John Hundley, the father of CCM singer Mandisa, insisted his daughter did not harm herself when she was found deceased at her home on April 18. His remarks suggested the award-winning singer could have had complications from COVID-19.
Hundley, speaking at his 47-year-old daughter’s funeral, revealed that he has spoken with Franklin Police Department investigators and that her official cause of death was still forthcoming.
He revealed that police found Mandisa on the floor of her bedroom. He theorized that she had fallen down and could not get to a phone to call for help.
“She did not harm herself,” Hundley said.
Mandisa “loved the Lord, and the Lord loved Mandisa,” he added.
“She told me some time ago that she had gotten COVID-19, and she had been weak trying to get over that,” he said. “But she was trying to press through.”
The last time the grieving father spoke to his daughter was on Easter Sunday.
“We talked so much on Easter morning, but I thought she was going to this conference and, so, I had not called her recently, but I’ve talked to her a lot. May she rest in peace now,” Hundley said.
Mandisa’s celebration of life service was held at Brentwood Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee, on April 27. The service was livestreamed and still available to watch on YouTube.
