Boeing Supplier Sues Texas AG After Safety Probe Launch – American Faith

Boeing supplier Spirit AeroSystems filed a lawsuit against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton after he opened an investigation into the company’s safety standards.

Spirit AeroSystems alleged that Paxton’s request for internal documents is a legal concern, saying the “Request to Examine” potentially violates the company’s Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment right to be “free from unreasonable searches and seizures,” according to the lawsuit.

According to the supplier, Paxton’s investigation “bears no connection to events occurring in the State of Texas and as such has, at best, a questionable law enforcement purpose.”

It added that it does not “manufacture any part, in Kansas, Texas, or elsewhere, that allegedly failed in incidents involving Boeing 737 aircraft.”

The lawsuit was filed on the same day a Boeing whistleblower died unexpectedly from a “sudden, fast-spreading infection.”

Joshua Dean, a former quality auditor at Boeing supplier Spirit AeroSystems, developed pneumonia and MRSA after having an infection, passing away shortly thereafter.

Dean previously filed a complaint with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), asserting there was “serious and gross misconduct by senior quality management of the 737 production line” at Spirit,” the Seattle Times reported.

Following his termination from Spirit in April 2023, Dean filed a complaint with the Department of Labor, alleging he was fired due to raising safety concerns.

On March 28, Paxton launched an investigation into Spirit AeroSystems after numerous Boeing 737 jets were involved in “dangerous incidents,” according to an announcement of the probe.

“The potential risks associated with certain airplane models are deeply concerning and potentially life-threatening to Texans,” Paxton said. “I will hold any company responsible if they fail to maintain the standards required by the law and will do everything in my power to ensure manufacturers take passenger safety seriously.”
