Billionaire CEO Claims ‘Nobody Wants to do Business in NYC’ – American Faith

Billionaire CEO John Catsimatidis said Friday that no one wants to do business in New York City anymore following the Donald Trump conviction.

“If they can do this to a business person like Donald Trump, they could do it to anybody in New York and a lot of businesses. A lot of people are concerned that there is no rule of law,” Catsimatidis said.

“The city was shocked. The country was shocked. The world was shocked, and it was just mind-boggling. People texted me that they just got home and their wives were crying. We have to bring back the rule of law,” Catsimatidis added.

The billionaire claimed that if they could do this to Trump, the justice system could convict any businessman.

“If they can do this to Donald Trump, a former president, regardless of how you feel about the politics, if they can do this to a former president, what can they do to Grant Cardone? What can they do to any other businessman?,” he continued.

Trump faces a maximum sentence of 136 years total, as each count carries a maximum prison sentence of four years.

In February 2024, “Shark Tank” host and businessman Kevin O’Leary said he would no longer invest in New York after Trump’s legal battles.

“This award, I mean, just leaving the whole Trump thing out of it and seeing what occurred here … and I’m no different than any other investor, I’m shocked at this. I can’t even understand or fathom the decision at all. There’s no rationale for it,” O’Leary said.

“We’re very worried, every investor is worried because where is the victim? Who lost the money? This is some arbitrary decision a judge made,” he continued. “This policy … what does this say about the bar? About the legal bar in New York? Aren’t they going to question this judge? What is this? $350 million and interest and there’s no victim?”

The Shark Tank host said the decision has made up his mind about ever doing business in the state again.

“I would never invest in New York now,” he added. “And I’m not the only person saying that.”

“And this has nothing to do with Trump, nothing to do with Trump. Forget about Trump, this is not a Trump situation, this is a New York problem,” O’Leary continued.
