Republicans Demand Investigations into Officials Labeling Hunter Biden Laptop ‘Disinformation’ – American Faith

A number of GOP lawmakers are calling for investigations into 51 intelligence officials who initially claimed Hunter Biden’s laptop was “Russian disinformation.”

Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) told The Daily Mail that she believes the 51 intelligence officials should have their clearances revoked, adding, “I think there needs to be an investigation into every single one of them.”

We know that the intel community never operates in absolutes and the fact that we had 51 come forward and try to put forward a narrative that this was disinformation, misinformation when everyone knew full well that it wasn’t, that it was very real,” she explained.

Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) similarly said that “none of these people have been held accountable.”

“So if any of them are still working in government, they should all lose their jobs and then be sued if there’s some type of cause that you can go after them for.”

Republican Ted Cruz (TX) wrote on X that “every single one of the 51 former intelligence officials who signed the letter saying that the laptop was Russian disinformation should be held accountable.”

Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) echoed the sentiments of the representatives. He noted that the FBI was “forced to admit that the Hunter Biden laptop was real, and NOT a Russian information operation” and called for them to be held accountable.

Intelligence officials have stood by their assertions that the Biden laptop was “Russian disinformation,” Fox News reported.

The outlet reached out to the officials, asking if they regretted their decision to sign the letter labeling the laptop as “disinformation.”

An attorney representing several of the letter’s signatories sent a statement to Fox News, hailing the letter as “patriotic.”

Another Intelligence Community signatory, Greg Treverton, said that “it did look like a Russian operation. We didn’t, and couldn’t, of course, say it was a Russian operation. Enough said.”

The letter, published in 2020, said that Hunter Biden’s emails relating to his “time serving on the Board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”

“If we are right, this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this election, and we believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this,” they added.
