Planned Parenthood is drawing attention for its role in providing transgender medical procedures, boasting about bing the second largest provider for hormone therapy in the country. The organization, which receives taxpayer funding, has expanded its services to include hormone therapy and other transgender-related medical care.

“Providing gender-affirming care services aligns with our mission of enabling all people to make empowered, informed decisions about their bodies and lives. Nationally, Planned Parenthood is the second-largest provider of hormone therapy,” according to the Pennsylvania chapter of the nonprofit. 

According to the former director of Planned Parenthood, Abby Johnson, the organization’s motives reveal a “very dark agenda.”

Planned Parenthood appears to have been offering gender-affirming care and hormone therapy for longer than they would care to admit. 

While the number of Planned Parenthood facilities that offer hormone therapy are rapidly increasing, the reported number of patients has seen no dramatic surge. On the other hand, the undisclosed procedures have had an unexplainable spike in recent years, causing concern for many Republicans who cannot trust Planned Parenthood to report their numbers transparently. 

The 2021-2021 report confirmed 15,902 falling under the “other” procedures category, while the latest report indicated 177,237 in that same category. 

A press release from Sen. Bill Cassidy’s (R-LA) office drew attention to the matter, reading, “Despite the rapid increase in the number of Planned Parenthood affiliates offering these types of services, the exact number of gender transition services performed is unknown because this information is captured in the organization’s annual reports under the broad label of ‘Other Procedures.’”

While Planned Parenthood chooses to boast about being the second largest hormone therapy provider in the country, concerns are being raised across both political aisles as the tax-payer-funded nonprofit still lacks transparent reporting on procedures being done annually. 

Planned Parenthood has yet to explain why such procedures would not be reported transparently and would be hidden under an undisclosed category on their annual report.
