In a press statement, Sununu said: “…charged political statements have muddled the conversation and distracted from the two primary factors that any parent must consider: safety and fairness for their children. These two factors have been my primary consideration in reviewing these bills.”

“This bill focuses on protecting the health and safety of New Hampshire’s children and has earned bipartisan support,” the statement continues. “There is a reason that countries across the world—from Sweden to Norway, France, and the United Kingdom—have taken steps to pause these procedures and policies.”

HB 619, which restricts transgender surgeries on youth says it: “prohibits gender transition procedures for individuals under the age of 18 and prohibits the use of funds for these procedures.”

HB 1205, which includes restrictions on boys competing in girls’ sports, states, “Athletic teams or sports designated for females, women, or girls shall not be open to students of the male sex.”

The passage of these bills shows how people all across the country are tired of the exploitation of children to harmful procedures, practices and actions. Parents have the right to know what is going on with their children, and decisions to alter or treat a child as a different sex than what they were born as has immense consequences not only on the child, but on society at-large.
