Nevertheless, She Preached (NSP)—a movement and nonprofit organization that centers the voices of female, queer and BIPOC preachers—has announced a series of cohorts for ministers. The offerings are designed to help participants reimagine “ministry, church, and preaching through rest, communal care, and innovative collaborative learning,” according to NSP.
Each of the three cohorts will meet virtually via Zoom throughout fall 2025 into early 2026. All participants will also be invited to a retreat at Lucky Arrow Retreat Center in Dripping Springs, Texas, from Oct. 6-9, 2025. Applicants may choose from the Peacock, the Social Weaver or the Nightingale cohorts.
The Peacock cohort will support queer women, nonbinary and genderqueer clergy seeking connection, healing and growth. NSP describes it as a space where participants’ “sacred brilliance” isn’t just welcomed, but affirmed.
The Social Weaver cohort is for ministers with a revolutionary instinct, focused on “queer church practices—rethinking and reimagining how church is embodied.” It will explore ways to dismantle ministry hierarchies, expand inclusivity and reframe sacred rituals.
The Nightingale cohort will engage the art of dialogical preaching, encouraging ministers to decolonize the pulpit. A percentage of spots will be reserved for preachers who hold marginalized identities.
In a statement about the cohorts and retreat, NSP co-founder Kyndall Rothaus invited ministers to consider the importance of stepping away to find rest and support among kindred spirits. “What if I told you that when the world is falling apart, you do actually still deserve this?” she said. “It’s not selfish. It’s not indulgence. It’s sustenance.”
