OTTAWA, Ontario (LifeSiteNews) — The Liberal government has used over $13 million in taxpayer dollars to finance pro-abortion groups which kill off Canada’s future through abortion.
On September 29, Health Canada announced over $13 million in funding for pro-abortion groups under the Sexual and Reproductive Health Fund, which mainly goes to abortions and radical LGBT groups.
“The Access for All Program provides support for under-served populations to access abortion care through emergency funds for travel and logistical support,” reads a press release announcing $2.8 million in funding to Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights.
Similarly, the University of British Columbia’s Contraception & Abortion Research Team received $4.3 million to “address the abortion information, access and appropriate care needs of key groups, including people who are Indigenous, racialized, migrants, homeless, 2SLGBTQI+, youth and those with disabilities and/or complex health concerns.”
Campaign Life Coalition (CLC) President Jeff Gunnarson condemned the funding, arguing that taxpayer dollars supporting “reproductive health” should go towards families having children, not those killing off their children.
“Reproductive health should mean what it says—the creation and care of new life. Instead, the term has been hijacked by radical anti-life groups that exist solely to promote the destruction of preborn children through abortion,” he explained in a press release sent to LifeSiteNews.
Gunnarson warned that the Liberal payouts are “nothing less than the government paying people to destroy Canada’s future.”
“Instead of pouring millions into the destruction of future Canadians, this money should be used to help families thrive and to encourage married couples to welcome more children. Mr. Carney is not just fiddling while our nation collapses demographically—he is pouring gasoline on the fire by funding those who accelerate the decline. It is utter madness,” Gunnarson said.
Gunnarson called on Canadians to contact their local Member of Parliament and “demand an end to this outrageous misuse of public funds.”
“And I especially appeal to our religious leaders: abortion is not merely a political issue, it is the greatest assault on the gift of life that comes from God,” he declared. “Our government has no right to finance it. To stand by in silence is to be complicit.”
In the past five years, Liberals have spent unprecedented amounts of taxpayer dollars to fund abortions, both in Canada and overseas.
Health Canada’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Fund was established in the 2021 budget with an initial amount of $45 million to expand abortion and contraception for people in Canada who “face the greatest barriers to access,” with an additional $36 million added to the 2023 budget.
Under former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the Liberals led the most pro-abortion government in Canadian history, spending more than $1 billion since 2020 to promote abortion and contraception at home and abroad.
According to CLC, abortion has killed over four million preborn babies in Canada since its legalization in 1969, which is roughly equivalent to the population of Alberta.
