Lord, Open Your Armory for Israel! – Intercessors for America

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Are you greatly concerned about how the U.S. is treating Israel?

Israel has historically been a close ally to our nation, politically speaking. That’s not even counting the spiritual aspect of political relations with Israel, which we cannot discount. Scripture is clear that the Jewish people are the apple of God’s eye, and God will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse her.

Yet, in recent years, the American government has made quite a number of decisions that hurt our ally Israel, instead of helping her. And with the horrific war going on in the Holy Land, things haven’t gotten any better.

I recently came across a Scripture that I believe can help us pray strategically for Israel during this difficult time–a Scripture about the literal armory of God.

It’s Jeremiah 50:24-25, which says this:

I have laid a snare for you; you have indeed been trapped, O Babylon, and you were not aware; you have been found and also caught, because you have contended against the Lord.

The Lord has opened His armory, and has brought out the weapons of His indignation; for this is the work of the Lord God of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans (Jeremiah 50:24-25 NKJV).

Why does this Scripture matter for modern-day Israel?

  • Our ally Israel is constantly under attack—from the barrage of rocket fire to many other kinds of attacks.
  • Israel depends on her allies for some supplies and even armaments. In particular, the U.S. has been a key trading partner for weapons and armaments. However, the U.S. has not been faithful to be a good friend in this area when needed, especially recently.
  • But Israel still has to have weapons. Israel is a sovereign nation that has the right to defend herself. Defense requires supplies.

But even when weapons run short and armament trade deals fall through, GOD has an armory.

And that is what I want you to see today.

In Jeremiah 50, the Scripture (breathed out by God Himself!) says that the Lord has opened His armory and brought out the weapons of His indignation. He did this against the Babylonians/Chaldeans who were oppressing His people. The Lord took their attacks very personally. Even though the Lord used the pagan kings of Babylon and Assyria to do His work of disciplining the backsliding Israelites, after He finished using them to do His will, He was ready to punish them.

And the Lord opened His own armory to do this. That means the Lord has an armory. And if the Lord has an armory, then He has weapons inside that armory. Look at Jeremiah 50:25 again:

The Lord has opened His armory, and has brought out the weapons of His indignation; for this is the work of the Lord God of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans (Jeremiah 50:25 NKJV).

Additionally, if you look it up in your Strong’s Concordance, the word for “armory” in the Hebrew (Strong’s Hebrew word #214) actually and additionally means not only “armory,” but also depository, cellar, storehouse, and treasure house.

This word is used to talk about weapons, a storehouse of weapons, and a storehouse of treasure.

And when you also look up the word for “has opened” [His armory] in Strong’s Concordance, that word for “opened” literally means to open wide, loosen, break forth, let go free, ungird, and unstop, among other similar words.

So not only does God have an armory, but He has weapons in His storehouse / treasure house. And He is ready and willing to open it up and unleash His weapons on behalf of Israel.

And God’s weapons are better than the Iron Dome could ever be, my friend. Yes, we want the USA to honor its agreements and provide the necessary armaments to our allies. But even if the USA fails to act in integrity regarding this, we as Christians who love Israel need to pray that God would open His armory and unleash His weapons on Israel’s behalf.

Will you pray this simple prayer with me today? Let’s pray as follows:

“Father God, in Jesus’ name, we lift Your people Israel up to You. And we ask humbly that You would open Your armory, bring out the weapons of Your indignation, and defend the Jewish people.

We pray for the peace of Jerusalem; let peace be within her walls and prosperity within her palaces. Defend Jerusalem and all Israeli territory. Protect Your people, and provide all the armaments this nation needs by Your supernatural hand. Move in power, and we ask You to bless even our land because of our prayers for Israel. Thank You, Abba Father. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Beloved, even when men fail God’s people, God will never do so. He is faithful; the Lord who keeps Israel will never slumber nor sleep! Hallelujah!
