Seven Podcasts That Might Change The Way You Think About the World

It seems like everyone you know has a podcast these days.

From humor to pop culture to history and everything in between, there’s a podcast about everything these days. In a time when we’re almost oversaturated with options, it can be hard to determine which podcasts are worth your time.

We consider ourselves to be a bit of podcast experts (we do happen to have a great one of our own) so we thought we’d help you navigate the world of podcasts. These are just the tip of the iceberg, but there’s plenty of content here that will change the way you view the world.

Armchair Expert

Dax Shepherd is known mostly for his acting roles and his marriage to The Good Place‘s Kristen Bell. But on Armchair Expert, Shepherd and co-host Monica Padman take a closer look at the “messiness of humanity.” Through conversations and interviews with other celebrities and experts, Armchair Expert gets honest and vulnerable about what it really means to be a human.

Revisionist History

Malcolm Gladwell, a New York Times bestselling author and a TIME Magazine 100 most influential person, is the man behind the Revisionist History podcast. The podcast “revisits the past” and examines how it is affecting our present and future. Gladwell takes a closer look at historical figures and events, including the things historians might have misunderstood or overlooked. He gives new perspective to what has happened in the past, as well as what could have happened if things occurred differently.

Hidden Brain

Hidden Brain explores “the unconscious patterns that drive human behavior and questions that lie at the heart of our complex and changing world.” In other words, it helps people understand the human mind our world in a deeper way, revealing how our minds truly works.

Reply All

If you’ve ever wandered around the Internet, you know it can be a wild place. On Reply All, expert podcasters PJ Vogt and Alex Goldman discuss how people  have shaped the Internet to be what it is today, and also how the Internet has changed humanity. It can feel a bit Black Mirror-esque at times, but it is fascinating to fall down the Internet rabbit hole.

You’re Wrong About

Similar to the Revisionist History, journalist Sarah Marshall revisits famous historical events and tells the true story of what happened, not just the one that’s been repeated. From pop culture icons like Tammy Faye Bakker to infamous stories like the Stanford Prison Experiment, You’re Wrong About covers everything you could ever think of.

On the Media

Like it or not, media shapes our perception of the world. Television, movies, news, and yes, even podcasts, have a way of shaping our view of the world. We can’t necessarily stop it from happening, but we can be aware of how it happens. That’s what On the Media set out to do. The podcast takes a close look at how the media covers news topics as well as the role of the media more broadly.

People Fixing the World

There’s a lot going on in the world today. Famine, disease, climate change. All of it can seem overwhelming for humanity, but there are plenty of good humans out there who have set out to make a change. People Fixing the World shines a spotlight on the good work good humans are doing across the globe.
