Did You Miss Your Moment? – Intercessors for America

The fire of God that began in Asbury has moved across our nation. This significant moment in time began with great passion, praise, and humility. Still, there are challenges that come with such an event, causing some universities to pivot to new plans or new sites. How then do we continue to be a vital part of what God is doing? How do we keep those embers burning? Many are asking, “Did I miss my moment, what now?”

Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.

In the past couple weeks, I have prayed about these outpourings as I am sure many of you have. It would be awesome to be close enough to be a part of what God is doing across our nation. However, for many of us, it simply was not possible. Still, we recognize God is moving in our midst and we want to be a part of it. The good news is we can. Many churches have acknowledged and joined in this awesome time of seeking God and His presence by staying open for 24-hour prayer, praise, and worship. This evolving move of God has not only touched schools, but also churches and homes throughout the world. It is an exciting time indeed!

GOD IS LOOKING FOR A PEOPLE, NOT A PLACE

While talking to God about the many revivals we are hearing of almost daily, a scripture came to mind. It is found in 2 Chronicles 16:9.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him (NKJV.)

God was not looking for a place to pour out His spirit. He was looking for a people to pour His glory and presence on.

The good news is He hasn’t stopped looking. He is still pouring Himself upon and into those who are seeking Him, we see it across the world. We are in a Kairos moment where God is looking for those whose hearts are hungry for Him, who are seeking His face. When He finds them, He is pouring Himself out without measure – it’s not about a place, it is now and has always been, about a people.

GOD IS SEEKING WORSHIPPERS

God is seeking those who are seeking Him. He seeks the hungry. In the book of John we find another kind of people God is searching for…

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him (Jn 4:23, NKJV.)

It hasn’t gone unnoticed that each of these outpourings began with spontaneous praise and worship. Why? Because God is seeking such a person, or such a people.

I love how The Passion Translation shares this verse.

From now on, worshiping the Father will not be a matter of the right place but with a right heart. For God is a Spirit, and he longs to have sincere worshipers who adore him in the realm of the Spirit and in truth.

Once again, we see it is not about the right place, it is about the right people, with the right heart. Those who possess a heart of worship.

GOD WILL NOT BE STOPPED

While some may feel man is trying to stop what God is doing, I do not believe that to be true. They are simply trying to navigate a course they have never experienced before, as well as endeavoring to do what is best for all their students and staff.  These challenges demand wisdom and insight and we must continue to fervently pray God gives everyone involved a great deal of both.

This move of God can no more be stopped than a raging fire could be easily or quickly extinguished. As we know, throughout the pages of time, when man has attempted to stop God, they have never, not once, succeeded. In the book of Exodus, we find Pharoah attempting to stop God from delivering His people and removing them from bondage – he failed. In the New Testament, we find Satan trying his best to stop Jesus from fulfilling His purpose, he too failed miserably. Nothing and no one can stop God. He had begun to show Himself strong and powerful among His people and He will not stop until the whole earth is filled with His glory.

But truly as I live all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord (Nu 14:21, NKJV.)

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory (Is 6:3, NKJV.)

But [the time is coming when] the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea (Hab 2:14, NKJV.)

I am so encouraged by what God is doing in our land. I only see it increasing exponentially as we position ourselves in a place of humility and worship. And as we continue to seek His face and His presence. God is looking for a people who are looking for Him, who are worshipping Him in spirit and truth – may we be that people. May we join with Psalm 72:19 as a nation and declare, “Blessed be His glorious name forever; let the whole earth be filled with His glory! Amen and Amen!”
