The Intercessor’s Joy: Inside Information – Intercessors for America

As an intercessor, you are already bold to ask God for things. You already go boldly before the throne of grace, where we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. But do you realize that, in addition to being a “Holy Procurement Specialist,” as it were, you are also a “Spirit-Led Intelligence Officer” in the Lord’s spiritual army?

Who is praying on the wall?

It’s true. When you pray for your nation, your church, your marriage, your friends, and even yourself, God will often tell you inside information that only He otherwise knew. He tells you inside information so that you can pray more effectively. In essence, He reveals the enemy’s strategy to you—as well as giving you the inside scoop about what the Lord is doing Himself—so you can partner with Him, standing in the gap and praying shrewd, strategic prayers.

Let’s look at a few Scriptures about this. My favorite Scripture on this topic is Jeremiah 33:3:

‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know’ (Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV).

People often apply this Scripture only to asking God to DO great and mighty things for us, and that application is certainly valid. But, we can also apply this Scripture to the concept of inside information.

I can’t tell you how many times I have prayed Jeremiah 33:3 back to the Lord, only to have Him that very day send me inside information that applied to me OR to the people for whom I was praying. Each time, the inside information He sent was essential for me to know in order to pray properly. And each time, there was absolutely no human reason why that information would ever have reached my ears. GOD Himself simply chose to share it.

Also, Isaiah 45:11 says this:

Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: ‘Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons; and concerning the work of My hands, you command Me’ (Isaiah 45:11 NKJV).

Did you catch that? The Lord said point-blank in that verse that we should ask Him of things to come concerning His sons! In other words, we can ask Him for inside information about every situation for which we are praying.

Obviously, we should never ask God for inside information for fleshly purposes. Some things are simply not our business. As Proverbs 26:17 says:

‘He who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own is like one who takes a dog by the ears’ (Proverbs 26:17 NKJV).

But God is wise enough to handle our prayers AND deal with the state of our hearts if we happen to ask for the wrong reasons.

We should not get into fights that do not concern us; meddling should never be the reason we ask God for inside information. But, asking for that inside information with a pure heart will help you in unfathomable ways.

For example:

  • If you’re worn out from praying for someone without apparent results, you can ask the Lord to show you what kind of progress He is making with that person. Ask Him to show you the great and mighty things He is doing in their lives in response to your prayers! Every time I have asked that, He has answered with major inside information that encouraged me and refueled my passion to intercede for those people.
  • If you’re not sure whether or not a specific relationship in your life is from God, you can ask the Lord to give you inside information about it. The information He sends may not be enjoyable to hear, but God will show you the truth you need about your relationship.

Friend, the long and the short of it is this: Every time you call to God, He will answer you and show you GREAT and MIGHTY things that you do not know.

Do you have the faith to receive inside information? If so, pray very simply as follows:

“Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word. Thank You that Your Word will not return to You void, but it will accomplish the thing for which You sent it. I praise You for Your faithfulness.

Lord God, I claim Your promise today from Jeremiah 33:3. I am calling to You right now, and I’m asking You to answer me, and show me great and mighty things that I do not know.

With this prayer, I am asking You to DO great and mighty things on my behalf today—things I have neither known nor experienced before. But also, Lord, I pray in Jesus’ name that You would show me inside information that I need:

  • Show me great and mighty things that I didn’t know about; information about every situation in my life.
  • Show me how You are moving and working in my life; in the lives of my family; in my nation; and in all those for whom I am praying.
  • Fuel me up and refire my soul with Your progress reports, and help me to exult in You and in Your strength.

Thank You, Abba Father. Thank You that You are not a God who ignores us. You reach down to us in our poorest, neediest valleys. You help us, strengthen us, and encourage us. We ask You to show us things to come concerning Your sons, and help us to partner with You by praying for Your perfect will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Thank You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”
