Prayer: Lord, Disarm the Killer Robots – Intercessors for America

Have you ever watched a superhero movie and been thankful that we do not live in times as scary as those depicted onscreen? Alas, it seems that we might live in such times after all. In recent months, I have seen headline after headline (a simple internet search will reveal quite a few articles) about how killer robots are not only possible, but in fact already exist.

Pray for your fellow intercessor.

We need to pray.

Why are killer robots a big deal?

Killer robots — artificial intelligence (AI) machines that make their own decisions without human intervention — are a big deal and a problem because they have no conscience. They are unable to decide between appropriate and inappropriate targets of war at the level that humans can decide such things. To them, it would be easy for everything to be a target. In addition, killer robots allow warmongers to wage war without the basic “cautionary tale” that is called “fear of retaliation.”

Basically, killer robots allow people to enforce their power — and grab additional power — with no fear of recourse. And they are not subject to human authority, since their artificial intelligence allows them to make their own decisions.

Terrifying articles in the news last year even discussed whether these AI machines are actually sentient beings. And evidence suggests that their technology may be so sophisticated that they do appear so.

Friend, we need to pray about this. We are not to dwell in fear, but we need the intervention of the Lord of heaven and earth.

Would you pray with me today for the Lord to disarm the killer robots?

Let’s pray as follows:

Dear heavenly Father, we come to You in Jesus’ name.

Thank You for being the God of all power who also bends low to hear our prayers. Thank You that we can come boldly before Your throne of grace, where we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. We praise You for Your excellent greatness, and for Your supreme power over heaven and earth.

Father God, we need Your help right now.

You see what men have contrived to do with the invention and manufacture of killer robots. You and You alone know the full, ugly truth about what these robots are capable of. But Father, You are no stranger to man’s plans to achieve greatness. And You are well able to cast down every man’s evil plan, for You and You alone sit at the governmental center of the universe.

Father God, we remind You today of man’s plans at the Tower of Babel in ancient days.

Evil men wanted to build a tower whose top was in the heavens, in order to make a name for themselves. And they began the work. But You weighed their actions and motives in Your balance and found them wanting. And, lest they perpetuate evil on the earth, You came down and confused their speech and language, interrupting the work and scattering the people.

Father, the work and plans of those men on the plain of Shinar came to nothing because You destroyed those plans. And we ask today that You would do that same thing again: that You would destroy and disarm the killer robots, as well as all plans to further their creation and manufacture.

In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, we ask today:

  • that You would confuse the language of every evil AI machine;
  • that every evil AI machine would no longer be able to process data or render decisions;
  • that every AI robot created with evil intentions would have its circuitry disrupted and would actually self-destruct;
  • that these machines would not be able to hurt or hinder righteous people at all;
  • and that every plan for evil that has been hatched up by wicked people would collapse and crash, and that the people would be scattered.

Father, we pray this word back to You today:

Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered; let those also who hate Him flee before Him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God; yes, let them rejoice exceedingly (Psalm 68:1–3 NKJV).

And Father, we literally ask that every evil killer robot and every wicked artificial-intelligence machine would melt before the fire of Your presence, for You are a consuming fire.

We ask that every wicked device and plan would perish at the presence of God. And we ask that You would arise, and Your enemies would be scattered — especially these artificial-intelligence devices that men have intended to use for nefarious purposes.

Thank You, Abba Father. We cannot fight this battle ourselves, but we say today with the prophets of old: Are You not God in Heaven?

Truly You alone are God, and our eyes are upon You. Save this planet and us, Your people whom You have created, from these wicked inventions, and bring them to nothing. Let these devices bow and self-destruct before the name of Jesus, for at His name every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Thank You, heavenly Father. We honor You and give You the praise. Thank You for hearing and answering our prayer. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen, and amen.

Beloved, we should not live in fear regarding killer robots. Remember that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. But, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be prayerful. This matter is something we need to pray about often and with the full authority of the name of Jesus.
