USA Boxing Criticized for Allowing Transgender Competitors – American Faith

USA Boxing will allow transgender, biological males to compete against women in 2024.

Boxers under the age of 18 must still compete biologically, however, according to the Daily Mail.

In a new transgender policy, USA Boxing wrote that a male-to-female boxer is eligible to compete in the female category under certain conditions, including declaring their gender identity and completing gender surgery, taking quarterly hormone testing, and ensuring appropriate testosterone levels.”

While some sports have included transgender competitors, others have prohibited trans athletes.

American Faith reported in July that the International Cycling Union (UCI) instated a controversial ruling, prohibiting biological males who identify as transgender women from partaking in women’s category races on an international scale.

UCI officials assert that this controversial move is a necessary measure “to protect the female class and ensure equal opportunities,” according to a report from Cyclingnews.com.

The ban specifies that “female transgender athletes who have transitioned after (male) puberty will be prohibited from participating in women’s events on the UCI International Calendar – in all categories – in the various disciplines.”
