Resolute: Trump Wins by Double Digits (It Seems), Haley Claims a Victory – The Stream

New Hampshire voters have spoken, but is Nikki Haley misunderstanding what they said? The polls are closed and we are Resolute.

Another Big Trump Win

Barring a late night twist, Donald Trump has won a double-digit victory in the New Hampshire primary, becoming the first Republican in a contested primary to sweep both Iowa and the Granite State since 1976. Associated Press called the race three minutes after the final polls closed.

Just as in Iowa, Trump won in New Hampshire, here despite Haley having the support of the state’s popular governor Chris Sununu.

In his victory speech, Trump teased Haley for coming on stage when Trump’s lead was the narrowest and a small percentage of the vote was in. “She’s doing a speech like she won. She didn’t win, she lost … if you remember Ron was very upset because she pretended she won Iowa. Didn’t she come in third?”

For much of the night as the results trickled in, Trump’s lead was in the single digits, but as votes came from more rural areas the former President’s lead grew. As of 11 p.m. Eastern, Trump had an 11.5% lead, 55% to 43.5%, with 76% of the vote counted.

Haley “Our Fight Isn’t Over”

Shrewdly, one might say, Haley came on stage very early when the margin was a relative sliver, proclaiming a symbolic victory. The same speech given when her loss measured double digits would sound Pollyannaish, if not, as Trump would post, “delusional.”

The former South Carolina governor proclaimed she’d had a “great night.” “New Hampshire is first in the nation. It is not the last in the nation,” she said, “This race is far from over!”

Haley correctly pointed out that she has risen from 2% to the “last one standing” beside Trump with “dozens” of states left to go. True enough, she knocked out governors, senators, even Trump’s former VP to land 40+ percent of the vote in New Hampshire.

Now the bad news: Haley’s numbers in New Hampshire were inflated by independent voters who came out as a protest vote against Trump and admitted to those who asked they will be voting for Biden in the fall.

How many non-Republicans — or “infiltrator votes” as some are calling it — mucked up the works? CNN’s exit polling indicated a full 70% identified as either Democrats or Independents. Only 27% of those who voted for Haley were Republicans.

Even though Haley claimed tonight the Democrats want to run against Trump, not her, the simple fact remains her campaign is taking in large sums of money from Democrat donors. This includes progressive billionaire Reid Hoffman, who is also funding some of the lawfare efforts against Trump.

(Compare her willingness to take money from Democrats who want to harm Trump to Kari Lake’s scoffing at a bribe offer.)

She Ain’t Going Anywhere for Now

After losing again tonight, and the road ahead a lot rougher than New Hampshire, Haley is facing enormous pressure to get out of the race so the party can focus on Joe Biden. Current polling has her down about 30% in her home state of South Carolina, and the opportunity will never be as great as it was in New Hampshire.

But former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee reminds us of the human element at work.

He has twice run for President and understands as well as anybody the difficulty of throwing in the towel. As he told Fox News last night “It is harder to get out of it than it is to get in it.”

So elections are kind of like the Mafia. Which some days feels like an insult to the Mafia.

Biden Wins Democratic Primary as a Write-In … as Challenger Dean Phillips Issues Warning

On the Democratic side of things, Joe Biden won with a write-in vote of about 60%. Biden didn’t file to be on the ballot, as part of the DNC’s effort to quash New Hampshire’s role as “first in the nation” primary in favor of South Carolina.

Democratic candidate Doug Phillips was in New Hampshire and ended up with 20% of the vote.

Yesterday he made a remarkable statement on CNN, sharing his experience hanging around outside the line for a Trump rally Saturday.

Phillips is warning his party the way Clinton was warning his wife in 2016. Warning the elites who stick their nose up at the Trump voters and paint them with hostile stereotypes. “My party is delusional” he told CNN. Will they listen?

Biden and Harris Campaign Together for Abortion in Virginia … Hear From Anti-Israel Protesters

“Virginia is for lovers,” and Biden-Harris hopes, also those who love the killing of the unborn.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris made their first campaign appearance together Tuesday night in Manassas, Virginia.

Manassas was the site of Civil War Battle of Manassas or First Bull Run. The Union and Confederates suffered nearly 6,000 casualties. Still nothing like the blood bath Biden and Harris were promoting last night. The campaign event was to promote abortion. Call it “reproductive freedom” all they want, but the unencumbered killing of the unborn is what they were talking about.

Harris — who made her pro-abortion bones in California launching the prosecution against those who exposed Planned Parenthood’s baby selling operation — declared: “One does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to agree the government should not be telling her what to do with her body.”

As for Biden, we’re not quite sure what he was saying.

Biden’s incoherence wasn’t the only problem. Anti-Israel protesters interrupted his speech 14 times, with chats like “Genocide Joe.”

The “Genocide Joe” referred to his support for Israel, but given that they were all at a rally in support of unlimited abortion … well, if the shoe fits …

Disturbing Audio: Arizona GOP Chair Tried to Bribe Kari Lake Not to Run for Senate

Last March, Kari Lake told CPAC about how someone tried to bribe her not to run for Senate in 2024. Outlets like the Independent said Lake “spins tale” about bribery effort. Lake is awaiting their apology. On Tuesday, the Daily Mail released audio of Arizona GOP chairman Jeff DeWit asking her to name her price to stay out of the race. “There are powerful people who want to keep you out.”

Here’s The Daily Mail transcript of a portion of the call:

‘So the ask I got today from back east was: “Is there any companies out there or something that could just put her on the payroll to keep her out?’

Lake reacts with indignation.

‘This is about defeating Trump and I think that’s a bad, bad thing for our country,’ she said.

Later, DeWit, who was chief operating officer on the Trump’s 2020 campaign, frames it differently.

‘Just say, is there a number at which….’ he begins.

Lake cut in: ‘I can be bought? That’s what it’s about.’

‘You can take a pause for a couple of years. You can go right back to what you’re doing.’

Lake repeatedly rebuffs him and says she wouldn’t do it for a billion dollars.

‘This is not about money, it’s about our country,’ she says.

Kari Lake confirmed to NBC News at the Trump victory party that the audio is real and called on DeWit to resign. Listen to the full audio:
