Healthcare Groups Call for End to Child Mutilation Surgeries – American Faith

More than 100 doctors and healthcare groups have signed a declaration calling for leading medical organizations to end gender surgeries for children.

The declaration, “Doctors Protecting Children Declaration,” expresses the health professionals’ “serious concerns about the physical and mental health effects of the current protocols promoted for the care of children and adolescents in the United States who express discomfort with their biological sex.”

“Medical decision making should not be based upon an individual’s thoughts and feelings, as in ‘gender identity’ or ‘gender expression,’ but rather should be based upon an individual’s biological sex,” the declaration states, adding that most children will “resolve” these issues “after experiencing the normal developmental process of puberty.”

The declaration further asserts that children cannot make appropriate health decisions due to the “immature, often impulsive, nature of the adolescent brain.”

Numerous risks are also associated with “social transition, puberty blockers, masculinizing or feminizing hormones, and surgeries, not the least of which is potential sterility,” the doctors state.

If youths are affirmed in their pronoun and cross-sex hormone usage, they are more likely to have persistent gender dysphoria.

“Social transition is associated with the persistence of gender dysphoria as a child progresses into adolescence,” the declaration says, referencing a study supporting their assertion.

Puberty blockers and hormone treatments are also linked to disruptions in “physical, cognitive, emotional and social development,” as well as cancer, blood clots, and other health concerns.

While the U.S. still participates in the gender transitions of children, several countries, including England, Scotland, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland, have ceased gender operations due to the conclusion that these efforts are “not only unhelpful but are harmful,” the declaration says.

Instead of enabling harmful practices against children, organizations should “recommend comprehensive evaluations and therapies aimed at identifying and addressing underlying psychological co-morbidities and neurodiversity that often predispose to and accompany gender dysphoria,” the health professionals suggest. “We also encourage the physicians who are members of these professional organizations to contact their leadership and urge them to adhere to the evidence-based research now available.”

Some of the groups signing the declaration include the American Academy of Medical Ethics, Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, Genspect, the American College of Family Medicine, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, and the Catholic Medical Association. Many doctors, nurses, scientists, psychotherapists, and others also signed the declaration.

A recent study by the Mayo Clinic found that boys who take puberty blockers may suffer atrophied testes and fertility issues, American Faith reported.

The study, conducted by 11 researchers at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Minnesota, looked at the effects of puberty blockers on testicular cells and function.

“We provide unprecedented histological evidence revealing detrimental pediatric testicular sex gland responses to [puberty blockers],” the study says.

Some pediatricians have quietly admitted that puberty blockers are irreversible.

One doctor said, “When we just say, ‘Oh, puberty blockers are just reversible, and it’s a very noninvasive treatment,’ I would say it’s more invasive than oftentimes the media makes it out to be or other people.”

Discussing transgender teenagers, another said, “They’re unwiring, they’re rewiring. And if we’ve started one kid unwiring and half rewiring, and then we changed their puberty the other way and we’re unwiring, people have been trying to figure out what this does for kids’ brains.”
