IRS Whistleblowers Sue Hunter Biden’s Lawyer Over Defamation

IRS investigators Gary Shapley and Joe Ziegler, who courageously exposed Hunter Biden’s alleged tax crimes, have filed a $20 million defamation lawsuit against his attorney, Abbe Lowell.

The lawsuit, filed in Washington, D.C., accuses Lowell of maliciously retaliating against their whistleblower actions by making false and defamatory claims to the media, accusing them of illegally leaking Hunter Biden’s private tax information.

Shapley and Ziegler argue that these baseless accusations have caused significant harm to their reputations.

The lawsuit emphasizes that both men acted with integrity when they exposed what they believed were conflicts of interest and preferential treatment in the investigation into Hunter Biden’s tax affairs. They were careful to ensure that no confidential tax information was improperly shared.

The case highlights the unraveling of a controversial plea deal between Hunter Biden and Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, which fell apart after Shapley and Ziegler brought their concerns to light.

Last week, Hunter Biden ultimately pleaded guilty to felony tax crimes, further validating the whistleblowers’ efforts to hold him accountable.
