Melania Trump was paid nearly $250k to appear at Log Cabin Republican fundraiser, docs reveal – LifeSite

(LifeSiteNews) — Former First Lady Melania Trump was paid nearly a quarter-million dollars to appear at a fundraiser hosted by the pro-LGBT Log Cabin Republicans in April.

According to multiple outlets, financial disclosures reveal Melania was given $237,500 for speaking at the group’s event, which happened to be taking place at her husband’s lavish Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida.

The gathering, which cost $10,000 to attend, raised a reported $5 million, half of which was allegedly split between Trump’s re-election campaign and the GOP.

This was not the first time Melania or her husband have promoted the Log Cabin Republicans.

In June, the former president phoned into one of their meetings in Las Vegas, prompting outcry from social conservatives. The group posted on its X account that so-called “LGBT conservatives are united behind you, Mr. President.”

In July, Melania welcomed them to her private residence in Trump Tower.

Longtime Trump adviser Ric Grenell, a homosexual, announced on X that the event raked in $1.4 million. It is not apparent whether Melania was compensated for her appearance.

Donald Trump’s drastic shift to the left on social issues has infuriated many pro-life and pro-family conservatives, who have been one of his most loyal voting blocs.

In a recent op-ed for LifeSiteNews, D.C. Bureau Chief Doug Mainwaring argued that Trump’s repeated disavowals of the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 is a “stunning display of betrayal against social conservatives.”

While Trump has vowed to cut funding from schools that push gender ideology, pledged to keep males out of girls’ sports, and promised to ban sex change surgeries for minors without parental consent, he has catered to so-called “gay conservatives” on multiple occasions.

In 2016, before assuming office, Trump told 60 Minutes that he’s “fine” with homosexual “marriage.”

“It’s irrelevant because it was already settled. It’s law. It was settled in the Supreme Court. I mean, it’s done,” he told reporter Leslie Stahl.

This year, the GOP dropped its opposition to a federal abortion ban and homosexual “marriage” in its party platform, which won praise from the Log Cabin Republicans.

In 2020, Grenell, who served as Trump’s ambassador to Germany and acting director of National Intelligence, called him “the most pro-gay president in American history.” To which Trump replied, “My great honor!!!”

Lastly, in 2022, Trump welcomed the Log Cabin Republicans for a party at Mar-a-Lago after Joe Biden signed a same-sex “marriage” bill into law in December of that year.

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, the former Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, described the event as a “large scandal” that indicates “the deep state has contaminated the entire political elite without distinction, even involving Donald Trump, who up until now seemed to be a source of hope for the future of the United States.”

Trump is set to square off against Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in a presidential debate set for September 10 on ABC News.
