‘Sound of Freedom,’ based on real-life rescue of trafficked children, comes to theaters on July 4 – LifeSite

(LifeSiteNews) — “Sound of Freedom” — a film based on the life of Tim Ballard, former special agent for the Department of Homeland Security, and his mission to root out human trafficking across the world — is set for release in theaters across America as well as Canada on Tuesday, July 4.

Jim Caviezel stars in the film playing the role of Ballard, who left his career at the DHS as an undercover operative, to found Operation Underground Railroad in 2013. With the help of a team, he used his experience and skills to save children where the DHS could or would not.

Sound of Freedom is based on the true story of Ballard’s most dangerous undercover child rescue mission in Cartagena, Colombia.

During an interview with Steve Bannon last month, Caviezel cryptically remarked, “Epstein Island isn’t the only island out there where they have … children.”

“It’s very important for people to see this movie. Millions of people need to see this movie so that they can realize that this is not far from them,” human rights activist Eduardo Verástegui, who produced the film and is also one of its stars, told LifeSiteNews in an exclusive interview.

“This is happening next door, behind your house, everywhere,” he continued.

“Wake up now,” he urged. “Millions of children around the world are suffering this nightmare [and] are in pain. I’m sure many of them are praying to God to send an army to rescue them.”

“And God answers those prayers by sending people like Tim Ballard, people like Jim Caviezel, and many other soldiers around the world — warriors around the world — that are working really hard to end this horrible reality.”

“We’re talking about millions of children. Millions. So, we need a movement,” he declared.

Verástegui shared in an interview with Steve Bannon that while at first he was baffled as to why Netflix and Amazon declined to distribute the film, he came to the realization that “they’re blocking this film because this crime is everywhere.”

He pointed out that the U.S. “is the number one consumer of child sex,” and “Mexico is the number one provider.”

The producer believes that “if everyone knows what is going on,” child trafficking can be halted.

“The mission of this film, and Angel Studios’ role in distributing it, is to spread worldwide awareness about the horrors of human trafficking,” a representative of the film studio told LifeSiteNews. “If we’re going to spread awareness, that means getting as many people as possible to go to theaters.”

Asked what folks at home can do to help eradicate child-sex trafficking, Verástegui and the movie’s distributor, Neal Harmon, both had the same one-word answer: “Prayer.”

“The power of prayer is real. And if someone’s willing to get on their knees, and pray with love and listen, that exchange will bring to one’s mind what they can do with their own skills, [within] their circle of influence, [and with] their own resources,” Harmon said. “There will be a tailored action for every single person.”

Sound of Freedom will be released in 1,200 movie theaters across the U.S. on July 4, as well as in theaters across Canada, with some theaters releasing the film on July 3.
