Trump to Forgo GOP Debate, Opts for Interview with Tucker Carlson – American Faith

Former U.S. President Donald J. Trump has reportedly decided to forego the first Republican primary debate, creating waves within both the Republican National Committee (R.N.C.) and Fox News, the debate’s host.

Instead, Trump is said to be scheduling an online conversation with ex-Fox News anchor, Tucker Carlson, according to sources familiar with the plan, according to The New York Times.

Although Trump’s decision might come as a surprise to some, he had hinted at his stance recently on his website, Truth Social, stating, “Reagan didn’t do it, and neither did others. People know my Record, one of the BEST EVER, so why would I Debate?” The Times notes.

It is evident that Trump believes his accomplishments should stand without the need for further debate.

It had been speculated that Trump might make a surprising last-minute appearance at the debate, especially after he sought the opinions of aides, associates, and rally attendees about his participation.

However, individuals in his circle had earlier indicated that he probably wouldn’t engage in the initial two Republican debates, both sanctioned by the R.N.C.

Ronna McDaniel, the R.N.C. chairwoman, has been actively trying to persuade the 45th President to reconsider his decision.

Last month, she even paid a visit to Trump’s private club in Bedminster, N.J., to personally request his attendance.

Meanwhile, Fox News is also dealing with the complexities surrounding its relationship with Carlson, who, despite no longer having an active show with them, remains under contract.

Fox had to issue a cease-and-desist letter to Carlson after he broadcast a series of videos on X, the platform that succeeded Twitter.

Calrson’s latest “Tucker on Twitter” episode features an interview with 2024 Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and has already received nearly 36 million views.

His first episode boasts over 121 million views.
